Just a little bit about me, I have been involved with plumbing almost as long as I can remember. My father is a plumber and I always wanted to follow in his footsteps even as a small boy. It might sound a little odd but I do have a genuine love for this industry and I would never do anything to bring this in to question. I firmly believe in doing any job of work to the highest standards possible.

I have been trained to the highest industry recognised standards possible studying for five years at technical collage plus working in the industry under constant assessment followed by gaining registration to Gas Safe. I started as a self employed plumber about ten years ago after growing unhappy with the ways larger companies treat the customer and the prices they charge!

read more › Plumbing is the system of pipes and drains installed in a building for the distribution of potable drinking water and the removal of waterborne wastes, and the skilled trade of working with pipes, tubing and plumbing fixtures in such systems. A plumber is someone who installs or repairs piping systems, plumbing fixtures and equipment such as water heaters. Plumbing is usually distinguished from water and sewage systems, in that a plumbing system serves one building, while water and sewage systems serve a group of buildings or a city.

It's really important that you do not turn on your hot water taps. The last thing to do before getting in touch with your plumber is to turn off the central heating system and electrical immersion heaters and if you use solid fuel in your heating system, let the fire die out. If wiring has been exposed to the water, be really careful and make sure that you get a recommended electrician to fix it for you.

By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register, but there are illegal gas fitters out there. Cutting corners with gas can cost lives, so remember - don't cut corners and always use a Gas Safe registered engineer for any gas work. All Gas Safe registered engineers carry a Gas Safe Register ID card. Before any gas work is carried out always check the card and make sure the engineer is qualified for the work you need doing.

The regulations are far reaching and will certainly have a huge impact on all British sanitary ware manufacturers. And, for that matter, importers of sanitary ware into the UK. The key points which affect them revolve around the flushing of the WC suite.

You save money because you heat what you want only when you want it, and you can set it to suit your lifestyle. Modern electronic programmers let you set different times for weekdays and weekends or even each day of the week. Providing your system is adequate. Boiler energy control systems are the latest in home temperature controls.

read more › A zone is an area whose heating is under control of one time and one temperature controller, i.e. one timer and one thermostat, or one programmable thermostat. For example heating in a large house may be divided into one zone comprising living rooms and another zone comprising bedrooms, with a timer and room thermostat (or programmable thermostat) for each zone. Where Domestic Hot Water is heated by the boiler the water heating may be considered as a zone. In some older systems it was common for the bathroom radiator to be connected across the flow and return pipework to the hot water cylinder, keeping the bathroom warm and towels hung over the radiator dried and warmed at all times.

The world's most famous plumbers are probably video game superstars Mario and Luigi, of Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers series. Copper piping, which is the #1 material used for plumbing work in today's world, is the same material that the Egyptians used to lay their own pipe - some 3000 years ago!. Archeologists have recovered a portion of a water plumbing system from the Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt.
